Mission

Suzhou Singapore International School (SSIS) aims to provide a high standard of International education to the children of expatriate families.

The staff, students and parents of Suzhou Singapore International School work in partnership to create a learning environment that encourages and enables students to be self-motivated, lifelong learners, who value other cultures and are responsible, meaningful participants in the international community.

 

We have the following aims for our students:

  1. To provide a quality learner-centered curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 12 with emphasis on the development of skills, attitudes and knowledge.

  2. To nurture academic, social, emotional, physical and aesthetic abilities and to enable all students to achieve their maximum potential in all areas.

  3. To develop strategies that include critical thinking, independent research, risk-taking, lateral thinking and reflection.

  4. To enable students to make meaning of their education and to build on their prior knowledge, processes and skills.

  5. To develop a sense of curiosity in learning and to help maintain this interest through school and beyond.

  6. To develop independent and cooperative working skills.

  7. To provide students with the skills to be successful in a technological world.

  8. To give all secondary students the opportunity to follow a full IB Diploma Program.

  9. To build a strong partnership between students, parents, the school and the community.

  10. To encourage students to engage with their peers, family and teachers as valuable sources of learning.

  11. To support and encourage all students equally.

  12. To encourage students to be personally responsible in their academic performance, in their behavior and in their relationships with all members of the SSIS community.

  13. To support each learner's personal sense of identity, whilst developing their respect and understanding of the cultures of others.

  14. To instill in our students a respect for the environment.

  15. To empower students to develop a sense of humility, justice, integrity and compassion.

  In order to achieve this mission and preceding aims we endeavour:

  1. To provide a safe, supportive and productive environment for all.

  2. To provide the best possible facilities and resources.

  3. To recruit the best teachers and support them in their work as professionals in the school.

  4. To utilize the skills and expertise of the staff and provide support for their further development.

  5. To continually review and refine the services offered at the school.
